Hi Bruce, Unfortunately I have found (and most Savages I've seen), that the pipe will turn golden brown after a while. It's just the nature of the beast. Once it turns brown, there is nothing you can do about it. I have seen some after market chemicals at bike shops that claim to remove blueing from chrome pipes. I tend to doubt their claims. The browning is obviously caused by the heat and is actually normal wear for a motorcycle. I beleive blueing can be avoided though. Blueing is more extreme heat and is caused by the bike running while not moving for a long time. You should not idle your bike in the driveway too long on hot summer days and hopefully avoid long traffic lights. The Savage needs air rushing by to properly cool the engine. Engine overheating is much more serious than the cosmetic bummer of pipe dis-color. I know we all would like to never see our bikes get old, but the only way do that is to never run it and keep it in your living room. But that's no fun, the Savage was made to run! Ride and don't worry about the pipe, it's just doing it's job. Enjoy.
